Affinity electrophoresis

The affinity electrophoresis comprises in biochemistry all electrophoretic methods in which a modified running behavior of molecules (such as protein complexes, or DNA -protein complexes ) by the affinity of two or more molecules to each other is generated. Due to the changed speeds affinitätselektrophoretische methods are referred to as electrophoretic shift assays.

Method

Depending on the observed parameters electrophoresis, the applications are as mobility shift electrophoresis (with prosecuted walking distance ), charge shift electrophoresis ( at verfolgtem isoelectric point ) or affinity capillary electrophoresis (used in capillary electrophoresis ).

Affinitätselektrophoretische method for detecting protein-protein interactions such as the QPNC -PAGE, Native -PAGE, the Clear- to - Blue Native PAGE or SDS-PAGE according to a cross-linking.

The interaction of DNA with proteins can be detected by an electrophoretic mobility shift assay or capillary electrophoresis.

Binding of carbohydrates to proteins (such as lectins, polysaccharides to ) can be examined by lectin - affinity electrophoresis.
