affixation

Under affixation (Latin affigere "pin " ) is meant to appending or inserting an affix (word -forming element ) or in a stem. The base is therefore extended by a prefix ( prefixation ), a suffix ( suffixation ), a Zirkumfix ( Zirkumfigierung ), an infix ( infixing ) or a Interfix ( Interfigierung ).

Examples

For adjective pure are, inter alia, following Affigierungen possible: un - pure ( prefix), pure -ing (suffix), be - purely - ig ( s) ( Zirkumfix ). Joints as in " work -s- office " can be seen as (Inter Fixe ).
