Afghanistan Campaign Medal

The Afghanistan Campaign Medal is a military award of the U.S. Armed Forces, which was introduced as a result of Executive Order ( 13363 ) George W. Bush on May 28, 2004. The award of an Iraq Campaign Medal was decided by the same decree. The design of the Order provided by the U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry. The award will be officially awarded since June 2005.

The award is given to U.S. soldiers who serve in Afghanistan and its airspace. To achieve this award, must make its service in the prescribed area, a soldier at least 30 consecutive days or a total of at least 60 days. The awarding of the Order is limited to the duration of Operation Enduring Freedom. The order was retroactive to October 24, 2001 given, so that the soldiers Afghanistan Campaign Medal received, who had served before 25 June in Afghanistan.

Soldiers who participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and before the stipulated service life of 30 days died or were wounded, were also awarded the Order. Here, no distinction was made as to whether the soldier was injured or death by accident or by enemy action.
