Agatha Christie's Poirot

Agatha Christie's Poirot is a British crime drama television series. In the lead role as Agatha Christie's detective Hercule Poirot acted from 1989 to the end of 2013, David Suchet series.

General

Originally from London Weekend Television ( LWT ) produced, the series has been produced since the 2000s by Granada Television, who in 1994 acquired LWT.

Agatha Christie's Poirot began in 1989 as a television series in broadcast on the British television channel ITV1. Initially the series consisted mainly of 50-minute episodes were reworked for the most Poirot short stories and expanded to 50 minutes. The 2nd season for the first time then contained two 100minütige double episodes. (For season premiere: The house on the cliff, and as a special 2-3 squadron to look back at Poirot's first case in England: A family is under suspicion. ) Season 4 consisted entirely of three 100-minute double episodes. From Season 6 (1995 ) were produced only 100minütige films.

From the 7th season ( rotation: 1999, transmission: 2000 ), the series was under construction changed in order to survive in the international market. The recurring characters Captain Hastings, Chief Inspector Japp and Miss Lemon were written into the adaptations, although these do not occur in the book templates.

From the 9th season especially the heavily modified production design and the elimination of three recurring characters Captain Hastings, Chief Inspector Japp and Miss Lemon manifests itself, most of which do not occur in the book templates. The book templates draw an aging, dark Poirot character; This was taken into account for the screenplays and the atmosphere from the 9th season.

David Suchet declared himself willing to stand for all yet unfilmed Poirot episodes available. Early November 2011, was finally confirmed by ITV that a thirteenth season will go into production in 2012 and complete the series with the five remaining Poirot stories. With Elephants Can Remember (based on the novel elephants do not forget ) launched the 13th and final season of the series on June 9, 2013 British television and ended on 13 November of the same year with the 70th and final episode of the series, Curtain: Poirot 's Last Case (based on the Poirotroman curtain).

Set design and years

In contrast to the novels and short stories by Agatha Christie, the play published 1920-1975 and 1916-1972, the series has been fully settled around the year 1936. ( With the exception of the special A family is under suspicion, who also plays in the series in 1917 and individual retrospect scenes. ) The series is therefore continuous with a 1930s set design and historical elements, such as real life historic newspaper articles and films equipped.

After Poirot had actually withdrawn at the beginning of the episode The Murder of Roger Ackroyd ( Alibi, Ep 7/1) already in the active investigation to the country he visited in the course of the film his former office in London in Whitehaven Mansions apartment house which it still belongs. From the next episode Lord Edgware this ( Thirteen at table, Ep 7/2) he takes from here again investigative activities with Miss Lemon and Captain Hastings.
