Ã…ge Hareide

Åge Fridtjof Hareide ( born September 23, 1953) is a Norwegian football coach.

Hareide began his active career in his hometown Hareid. From 1970 he played with IL Hødd; he then joined Molde FK in 1976 (until 1981 ). There followed three years of the first English Division: From 1981 to 1982 Hareide ran on for Manchester City, then to 1984 for Norwich City. He then returned to Molde, where he finished his career in 1987.

Even as an active player, he took over as coach in Molde 1985, which he held until 1991. 1993 and 1997, he returned for one season at this club. From 1998 to 1999 he was then responsible for the Swedish club Helsingborgs IF; it was followed by two years in Denmark with Brøndby IF, before he in his home the record champions Rosenborg Trondheim took over.

This office he held but only from January to December 2003, before the successor of Nils Johan Semb promoted him to the Norwegian federation to coach the national team, who had just missed out on qualification for the European Championship 2004. But even under Hareide it was not possible to solve the ticket to the next major event in the qualifying group for the 2006 World Cup in Germany occupied Norway in second place behind Italy and failed in the connection in the play- off games in the Czech Republic. On December 8, 2008 Hareide resigned from his post.
