AGESA

The AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture ( AGESA ) is a software library which contains validated processor procedures. With the help of this microcode collection AMD64 technology can be integrated into various products.

The software controls the activation of the individual cores of multi-core processors (eg, AMD Opteron and Phenom processors ), initializes the memory controller and HyperTransport. The various motherboard manufacturers do this by using a BIOS update. See also AMD K10 microarchitecture.
