Agglomeration communities in France

A Communauté d' agglomà is a form of community association in France. In contrast to the Communauté de communes that of French municipalities ( communes) of any size can be made, must be a newly formed Communauté d' agglomà under current, applicable legal since 1999 have at least 50,000 inhabitants and a municipality with at least 15,000 residents or a department capital as have center. The metropolitan regions around the largest cities, in turn, can form an Urban Community. There are, however, before 1999 formed Communauté d' agglomà that do not meet the above conditions, as well as before 1999 formed Communauté urbaines, the only Communauté d' could be agglomà today.

The Communauté d' agglomà serve the common perception of local problems of the communities involved. They are independent of the administration of the departments and regions and may also include neighboring communities belonging to different departments.
