Agiprand of Spoleto

Agiprand (also Asprand; † after 744) was 742 dux of the Lombard duchy Chiusi and 742-744 dux of the Duchy of Spoleto.

Life

Agiprand was a nephew of King Liutprand. His parents are unknown.

In the year 742 was Agiprand dux of Clusium as he Pope Zacharias of Interamna (Terni ), where these negotiations had with King Liutprand, escorted to Rome and to him the cities of Ameria ( Amelia), Horta ( places ), Polimartium ( Bomarzo ) and Bieda ( Blera ) handed. King Liutprand pulled 742 with an army to Spoleto, whose rebellious dux Transamund II, he deposed and exiled to the monastery. The Duchy of Liutprand awarded to his nephew Agiprand. Details of Agiprands rule are not known. According to Liutprand's death in 744 Agiprand was expelled or killed by Transamund.
