Hipódromo de Agua Caliente is a horse racing track in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, Baja California. Operator of the system is the Hipódromo de Agua Caliente SA de CV.

History

The Hipódromo with 11,000 grandstand seats was built in 1915 and was the venue for the " Agua Caliente Handicap " since 1917. This international horse races also attracted wealthy Southern Californians and was until 1958 one of the most valuable horse race in North America. Known jockeys who won the Agua Caliente Handicap in Tijuana, were, among others, George Woolf, Eddie Arcaro and Bill Zapatero.

In 1938, when then- Mexican President Lázaro Cárdenas outlawed gambling and horse betting, the plant was closed. After the repeal of the gambling ban a race of the Agua Caliente Handicap in 1958 took place again. In August 1971, the original stand structure of the racetrack was destroyed by fire. It was then restored and re- opened in 1974.

Today, the Hipódromo de Agua Caliente Racetrack is a will be held on the even greyhound racing. On the grounds of Hipódromos is also opened in 2007, the football stadium Estadio Caliente.
