Aguinaldo (Ifugao)

Aguinaldo is a Philippine municipality in the province of Ifugao.

Geography

Aguinaldo is one of eleven city municipalities in the province of Ifugao, it is bounded to the west by Mayoyao and Lagawe, to the east by Alfonso Lista, on the north by Natonin in the province of Mountain Province, and on the south by the reservoir of the largest dam of the Magat Dam Philippines. Aguinaldo is located about 386 km north of Manila, 102 km northeast of the provincial capital of Lagawe and 68 km from Santiago City. The eastern and southern part of the township is hilly and is 200 to 800 m above sea level. The northern and western areas where several centuries to find old rice terraces, are mountainous and are 600-1645 m above sea level. The highest mountain is the Ambalawag, the second highest in the Angnge is 2.3 km from the center and is home to the communications relay.

Population structure

The majority of the population belongs to ethnic groups Ayangans and Henangas a lower number of inhabitants is one of the ethnic groups of the Ilokanos, Bontocs, Kalingas and other ethnic groups.

History

Agunialdo was named after the first President of the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo. The municipality belonged as well as the municipality of Alfonso Lista earlier for township Mayoyao, both of which belong to the province of Ifugao. The Law on Education of the City Municipality of Aguinaldo was signed by then President Ferdinand Marcos on September 20, 1980 and ratified by a referendum of the people of Aguinaldo on December 6, 1980.

Economy

The majority of the population lives as farmers. Rice and grain cultivation, and fishing are the main sources of income. Due to a small number of prospective buyers and poor transport infrastructure, the marketing of these agricultural products is difficult. Cattle are resold by local acquirers after Pangasinan.
