Ahmed Rushdi

Ahmed Rushdi ( born April 24, 1934 at the princely state of Hyderabad, British India, † April 11, 1983 in Karachi, Pakistan ) was a Pakistani playback singer of Urdu film.

Life

Rushdi, who grew up in Hyderabad in India, had a natural baritone voice. He emigrated to Pakistan and became a singer in the Pakistan film industry. After he had taken the pop song, " Ko-Ko -Ko - reena ," he is also known as the first regular pop singer of South Asia. In 1954 he took the official national anthem of Pakistan with several other singers. In the late 1970s he suffered from poor health. He died of a heart attack at the age of 48 years. Overall, he sang about five thousand film songs in 583 films.

  • The Lux Style Award.

2003, the Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf posthumously awarded him the Sitara -e- Imtiaz award, the "star of excellence," for outstanding achievements in the field of art. In Karachi, Ahmed Rushdi Road which was named after him.
