Ahmose-Meritamun

Ahmose Meritamun II, also Ahmes - Merit -Amun or only Meritamun, in the 18th dynasty Egyptian queen and sister wife of the king ( Pharaoh ) was Amenhotep I.

About the daughter of King Ahmose I and his " Great Royal Wife " Ahmose Nefertari is little known. From her mother she inherited the title of " God's Wife of Amun ". Her other titles have included " King's Daughter" ( S3T - nswt ), " sister of the King" ( Snt - nswt ), " Mistress of the Two Lands " ( Nbt t3wj ) and "God's Wife " (HMT - ntr ).

Ahmose Meritamun died very young and her mother Ahmose Nefertari so took after her death again the position of the " Royal Wife " on the side of her son Amenhotep I. a. The marriage of Ahmose Meritamun and her brother Amenhotep I. Amenhotep I was childless and apparently married after her death, not again.

The mummy of Ahmose Meritamun was found in grave TT358 in Deir el- Bahri. Surrounded by cardboard mummy lay in two coffins and was proven to have been rewound at the time of Dynasty 21. Examinations of the mummy revealed that Queen Ahmose Meritamun suffered despite the young age of arthritis and had a crooked spine.

As part of the so-called " Horus Project" was the mummy of Ahmose Meritamun a total of 52 mummies that were scanned by computed tomography. It was found that, as 44 more mummies examined, also suffered from severe atherosclerosis. According to the result hardly a vein was found, which had no calcification. Both her mummy and her Rishi Coffin are now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The anthropoid, crafted from cedar wood coffin is similar in drafting the very Ahmose Nefertari her mother, who was also provided with spring pattern ( rischi ).
