Ai Se Eu Te Pego! ( [ aj sj ‿ ew tʃi pɛgu ], Portuguese for " Alas, if I catch you !") is a song by the Brazilian singer Michel Teló. The song was successful internationally and took first place in many countries.

Background

Formation

The origins of the song are at an event in 2006 by Sharon Acioly that was there for many years, singer and entertainer in the leisure resort Axé Moi in Porto Seguro. She took several students on the event stage that sang together there, and it was the refrain of the song, which she began in the coming years. Acioly had already had a national hit with the Dança do Quadrado 2008 and made the animation Ai Se Eu Te Pego number! together with Antônio Dyggs a real song. The band of Dyggs, Menino de Seu Zeh, made ​​the first recording of it. Through further versions of Garota Safada and Cangaia de Jegue the song was a regional hit in the northeast of Brazil.

Europe-wide success

The singer Michel Teló heard the song at a show in the region and took it in 2011 for his second album Michel na Balada on. Teló had previously been some hits and also made Ai Se Eu Te Pego! to a number-one radio hit in Brazil. Three other participants of the tour filed a lawsuit in court to also get a share of the Acioly and Dyggs entitled to royalties. Michel Teló is not affected by this question about the origin of his hits, because he is entitled to only the revenue as a performer himself.

In addition to the original versions of the Região Nordeste of Brazil, for example, of Menino de Seu Zeh, Garota Safada, Cangaia de Jegue and Alexandre Peixe there are several versions of Michel Teló.
