The Aidi, also called Atlas Mountain Dog or Atlas Sheepdog, is a Moroccan breed of domestic dog. It is next to the Sloughi the only Moroccan dog breed that is recognized by the FCI (FCI Group 2, Section 2.2, Standard No. 247).

The robust and powerful guard dog is in the mountains and plateaus of the Atlas as a guard dog use. There he not only guarded the flocks, but also the camp of wandering nomads. Its thick fur protects it against extreme weather conditions ( hot days and chilly nights) and also in the fight with wolves. Together with the Sloughi it also comes in the hunt for use. The task of the Stöber dog falls to him and the Sloughi captures the fleeing small game.

The nomads of the Atlas Mountains, the selective breeding took place less by outward appearances, but according to the utility value of individual dogs for their daily work and the climatic conditions in the mountains. So it is not surprising that there is a dense semi- long coat in many different shades of color. At a height at the withers (shoulder height ) of 50 to about 60 cm, it is slightly smaller than the shepherd dogs of the Caucasus. The semi- hanging ears, called overturned ears are relatively small and set low on the sides and broad and strong head.
