Aimé Millet

Aimé Millet ( born September 28, 1819 in Paris, † January 14, 1891 ) was a French sculptor.

Life

Millet came from a family of artists; his father was the miniaturist Frederick Millet (1796-1859), his nephew Julian was Louis Millet ( 1856-1923 ).

With 17 years Millet came in 1836 at the École des Beaux -Arts (EBA). He made ​​friends there, among others Pierre Jean David d' Angers and Eugène Viollet -le- Duc, who studied at the same time with him there. His earliest works were written about 1840 / 41st By some state contracts occurred in addition to the financial aspects, soon also to its social breakthrough. In 1870 he was appointed to the École des Arts Décoratifs and this office he held for nearly ten years.

With over 70 years Millet died on 14 January 1891 in Paris and found his final resting place in the Cimetière de Montmartre.
