Aino (mythology)

Aino is in Finnish mythology and the Finnish national epic Kalevala, the beautiful sister of the Joukahainen.

Background

Her brother had promised Väinämöinen as a woman, so that he 'll let him live. But when Aino saw was very old Väinämöinen, they despaired and jumped into a lake. Väinämöinen she began with his magic power, but the water goddess Vellamo had turned into a small fish that the disappointed threw back, and she turned back, laughing at him and disappeared forever.
