Air University (United States Air Force)

The Air University is an educational institution for the training of officers and NCOs of the U.S. Air Force, which is located on the Maxwell - Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery and the Air Education and Training Command is under.

Montgomery was since the founding of the first civilian flight school by the Wright brothers, a center of the U.S. aviation training. In the 1930s, the Army Air Corps moved his tactical training institute to Montgomery, from 1946, the Air University was established.

From its foundation until 1978 and from 1983 to 1993, the university had the status of a major command of the Air Force.

The University offers training for members of the U.S. Air Force. It is also a "pre- commissioning " is possible in which the university is funding the college education of the candidate who is committed for the later service with the Air Force. Even civilian personnel of the Air Force is open to the university. The training focuses on teaching the skills for development, deployment and use of Air Force units.
