Maxwell Air Force Base

Maxwell Air Force Base ( the official name is Maxwell - Gunter Air Force Base ) is a base of the U.S. Air Force in Montgomery in the U.S. state of Alabama. There, among other things, the Air University, one of the Air Education and Training Command under -standing training facility for the training of officers and NCOs of the U.S. Air Force is located.

Maxwell AFB is still an active military airfield. The flying unit stationed there is the 908th Airlift Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserves with C- 130 H Hercules aircraft.

Gunter Annex was once an airfield ( Gunter Field). The flight operation areas were sold in the 70s as building land to the City of Montgomery. Today there is stationed, among other things, the U.S. Air Force senior noncommissioned officer academy.
