Air West is a Sudanese airline based in Khartoum and base on the Khartoum International Airport.

History

Air West was founded in April 1992 and took off in October of the same year. Owners are the CEO and company president Saif Omer (90 %) and Housam Saif (10 %).

Air West was included in the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union and must not enter the airspace of Europe ever since.

Destinations

Air West offers domestic passenger transport and international freight charter flights. The Company has agreements for relief flights, among others with the organizations, WFP, UNICEF, ICRC and the U.S. Department of Defense and the Government of Sudan.

Incidents

  • On February 3, 2005 left a cargo plane Ilyushin Il- 76 Candid Sharjah with a cargo of relief supplies in the direction of the province of Darfur in Sudan, with a planned stopover in Khartoum. When the cockpit crew recorded the first contact with the air traffic control in Khartoum, she reported fuel problems. The plane crashed 15km from Khartoum, where all seven crew members were killed.
