Aïssa Maïga

Aissa Maiga ( born 1975 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese- French actress, screenwriter and director.

Life

Aissa Maiga was born as the daughter of a Malian father and a Senegalese- Gambian mother in Dakar. When she was four years old, the family moved to Paris. After high school located Maiga opted for a theater studies in Saint -Denis, which was finished after a few months because they found the classes too theoretical. After working for a time as a waitress, she played in the musical La nuit la plus longue. She received her first film role in the short film Le Royaume du Passage and played in Saraka Bo on the side of Yvan Attal and Richard Bohringer. She quickly rose to become a star of French cinema and has performed in films by directors Michael Haneke ( Caché ), Claude Berri and Alain Tanner. She was also director of the film Il faut quitter Bamako. For her role in the film Bamako Aissa Maiga was nominated as best young actress for the César 2007.
