The castle Aizu Wakamatsu - (Japanese会 津 若 松 城, Aizu Wakamatsu - - jo ) is a historic castle in Aizu Wakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture in Japan. The building is also known as " Crane Castle " (鶴ヶ城, Tsura -ga- jo ).
History
The residence Higashi Kurokawa - Yakata (东 黒 川 馆), the forerunner of the castle, was built in 1384 by Ashina Naomori. It was later called Castle Kurokawa (黒 川 城, Kurokawa - jo ). Over the centuries, changed several times, the lords of the castle. In 1868 the lord Matsudaira Katamori fought in the Boshin war against the imperial troops and lost, then this castle was managed by the new government, the Meiji government. This decided the demolition of the castle in 1874. In 1965 the restoration of the Donjon ( tenshu ).
