Aka Morchiladze

Aka Mortschiladse (Georgian აკა მორჩილაძე; native გიორგი ახვლედიანი / Giorgi Akhvlediani; born November 10, 1966) is a Georgian writer. He is considered one of the most read contemporary authors in Georgia.

Life

Mortschiladse studied history at the State University of Tbilisi. After graduating in 1988 he worked for several years at the university. In the early 1990s he was a parliamentary reporter of the Tiflis newspaper Resonansi, he also wrote for the tabloids.

His main works are the short stories The trip to Karabakh (1992 ) Dogs of Paliashvili Street (1995), Gone to the Madatow Island (1998 ) Patience in August (2001), witches Christmas Eve (2002), Age refugee Shop (2003) and Santa Esperanza ( 2004). In Georgia, they always led to the best-seller lists. In 2003 alone, his books have sold 15,000 times.

The dogs in the street Paliashvili been adapted as a play and premiered in 1999 Sandro Akhmeteli Theatre in Tbilisi. It reflects the Georgian life in the post-reunification years 1992 and 1993.

Mortschiladse is married and has children.
