Ã…ke Henriksson Tott

Åke Henriksson Tott or Achatius Tott (* June 1598 on a farm Gerknäs in Nyland, Finland today, † July 15, 1640 in Lavila, community Euraåminne ) was a Swedish general and politician.

Åke Henriksson Tott was born as the son of Henrik Klasson Tott and Sigrid Eriksdotter Vasa, a daughter of Erik XIV. 1630 he was appointed to the (secret) council member of the Imperial Council and in 1631 commander (field marshal) the Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War.

In this context, he led the Swedes in 1627 at the Battle of Grubin and in the first battle of Breitenfeld ( 1631). The Swedish King Gustav Adolf referred to him because of his military achievements as a " snow plow ", the free clear the way for others. In the German documents will Tott, who was primarily active in northern Germany, often referred to only as general Tott.

Apparently as a reward received General Tott first the feud Polchow Wardow and then passed to James Ramsay - had been the Swedish commandant of Hanau - fell.

He was married to Sigrid Bielke (1607-1634) and had two sons: Clas Åkesson Tott and Åke Henrik Åkesson Tott.
