Akköprü Dam

The Akköprü Dam ( Turkish: Akköprü Baraji ) is a dam was completed in 2009 at Dalaman in southwestern Turkey. It was built 24 km east of Koycegiz near the villages of Akköprü and Beyobası in the province of Mugla. Its purpose is the irrigation of 14,192 hectares of area, power generation and flood control for the city and its Dalaman Airport.

The dam of rockfill material is above the riverbed 112.5 m high. The total height of the structure is also specified with 162.5 m.

The hydropower plant, with its two Francis turbines, 57.5 MW twice, along 115 MW, and from 2008 to produce an amount of energy of 343 GWh annually.

The first plans date from 1980, but the construction did not begin until 1996. The final project was completed in 2009. Late 2010 the hydroelectric power plant began trial operation. Of the total memory space 195 810 000 m³ are available in operating as usable space.
