ÄakovaÄki vezovi
The Folklore Festival Đakovački vezovi, or embroidery art in Đakovo, held every year since 1967, the beginning of July. There costumes are shown folklore ensembles perform their dances and songs, choirs and opera singers perform in the Cathedral on to Đakovo, visual artists display their works. History
The first folk festival
One can argue that ' Đakovački vezovi nowadays not only a recognized festival of folk costumes, the embroidery and the music of Slavonia ( Slavonia ) and Baranja ( Baranja ), but of the whole country (Croatia). But it must not be forgotten that it took a lot of time and effort to create this image, this festival has today. The first folk festival Đakovački vezovi took place as a fitting celebration on the occasion of the International Year of Tourism on 2 and 3 July 1967. At that time it was planned as a one-time event. Because of the unexpected success, a large number of participants and the positive response that this event took place in the media, but it has become a tradition. The Gastro festival is the exhibition and tasting of traditional Slavonian cuisine with the known meat specialties ( Kulen = stuffed pork stomach, sausages, ham), foods from venison and freshwater fish. Another attraction is Bonavita, the competition, exhibition and tasting of excellent wines from Đakovo and its surroundings ( Pinot Blanc, Traminer, Riesling). The Folklore Festival Đakovački vezovi as an attraction offers a choice of the most beautiful costume for girls and young women. Embroidery art in Đakovo is not just a costume shop. In the cathedral occur under the organ accompaniment of the famous opera singer ( Ivanka Boljkovac, etc.) or choirs. A part of the festival are also horse racing. Horses are bred at the stud Ivandvor since 1502. The athletic program runs at the Hippodrome.
