al-Isra

Al -Isra ʾ, Arabic الإسراء, DMG al -Isra ʾ, the Night Journey ', is the 17th sura of the Qur'an. Another name of the sura is " The Children of Israel " ( Banī Isra'il ), which are mentioned in the second verse of Surat. You can also find the title Subhaana ( " Price is" ), whereby the first word of the sura is taken.

The Qur'an contains 111 verses and was revealed in Mecca. In it is reported that the Prophet Mohammed had made ​​a night journey from Mecca to the " distant place of worship " (Al-Aqsa ) that, inter alia, identified in the biography of the Prophet by Ibn Ishaq with Jerusalem (bayt al - Maqdis ).
