Al-Omari Mosque (Bosra)

The al -Omari Mosque is a mosque situated in the city of Bosra in Daraa province in Syria.

History

It is one of the oldest existing Islamic places of worship. The foundation of the mosque took place on behalf of the Caliph Omar, who had conquered Syria recently. The present building was built in 717-721 and completed the construction of Umayyad Caliph Yazid II below. In the 12th and 13th centuries extended and renovated the Ayyubid the building.
