The al - Shaab Stadium (Arabic ملعب الشعب ) is a stadium in Baghdad.

The Iraqi Fußballerstligist and record champions al - Zawraa denies its home games in this stadium. Construction and stadium opening took place in 1966. The stadium holds 45,000 spectators and is the largest in Iraq.

The al - Shaab Stadium was the gift of a businessman to the Iraqi government and is the home stadium of the Iraqi national soccer team. The opening game took place in 1966 between Baghdad and selection Benfica, played for the then also Eusébio. The game ended in a 2-1 win for the guests from Portugal. In 1979, the Golf Cup was held there.

The Iraqi national team played in the meantime more than two decades, not in the stadium.
