Al-Wehda Dam

The al - Wahda Dam (Arabic: al - Wahda سد الوحدة Sadd, dam of unity ') is at the Yarmuk, about 120 km north of Amman on the Syrian- Jordanian border. The dam is about 70 m high and 485 m long. The shut-off is designed as a gravity dam made of rolled concrete. The dam is used for irrigation and is operated by the Jordan Valley Authority in Amman.
The spillway leads with a width of 250 m on top of the wall.
Prime contractor is the Turkish construction company Özaltin. The project was implemented, among others, MWH Global.
Previously, a large dam was at this point I would have been planned for its construction it has not come. The " al - Maqarin Dam " was originally to be 171 m high.
