Alain Cavalier

Alain Cavalier Alain actually Fraissé ( born September 14, 1931 in Vendôme, Loir- et- Cher ) is a French screenwriter and film director.

Life

Cavalier came to the conclusion of a history student at the Institute des hautes études cinématographiques, where he was assistant to Louis Malle and a cinematic education ( Elevator to the Gallows, The Lovers ) was.

His first attempts as an assistant director he made in 1958 in the short film Un Américain. Then he ventured to the two films Le Combat dans l' île and L' Insoumis to approach political issues, but they were censored, as they grappled with the war in Algeria. Although there was no shortage of big names in his movies such as Romy Schneider, Jean- Louis Trintignant and Alain Delon, brought his films no commercial success, so he turned to more traditional topics. His first successes came with the films Mise à sac and the drama La Chamade ( based on the novel by Françoise Sagan ).

Cavalier won several awards for his work, including the 1987 César Award for Best Film and the César for Best Director for his film Thérèse. His film Father celebrated 2011 premiere at the International Film Festival in Cannes.

Cavalier was with Irène Tunc, a French actress and Miss France 1954, married who in a car accident was killed in 1972.
