Alain Pellegrini

Alain Pellegrini ( born August 12, 1946 in La Fleche ) is a French major general and former commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

He is a graduate of the military school of Saint- Cyr. Pellegrini has been used in Africa and the Middle East and then commanding the 21e Régiment d'Infanterie de Marine in Fréjus. He also serves as advisor to the defense minister of Benin and as defense attaché at the French Embassy in Beirut. It was in 1995 and 1996 participated in the UNPROFOR and IFOR missions and participated in the implementation of the Dayton Agreement in Sarajevo and Mostar.

In 2000, he headed the rank of Colonel, the Africa and Middle East Department of the Direction du Renseignement Militaire, the military intelligence in Paris.

From July 2001, Pellegrini advisor to the Chef d' état ​​-major of Armées ( CEMA, French Chief of Staff ) for Africa and the Middle East.

On 26 January 2004, he took command of UNIFIL, replacing General Lalit Mohan Tewari.

On February 2, 2007 Pellegrini was replaced by Major General Claudio Graziano Italian.
