Albert Heine

Albert Heine ( born November 16, 1867 in Braunschweig, † April 13, 1949 in Westerland, Sylt ) was a German actor and director, and from 1918 to 1921 director of the Burgtheater in Vienna.

Life

The son of a locksmith Brunswick passed the Abitur at Martino- Katharineum Braunschweig and finished a subsequent business apprenticeship. He went in 1891 as a volunteer at the Royal Theatre in Berlin. Between 1900 and 1905 he was occasionally, constantly engaged from 1910 at the Burgtheater. From 1910 he worked there as a director.

After the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy in 1918, he took over until 1921, the Directorate of the house, after the takeover of kk Court Theatre by the Republic was now only Burgtheater. He was also involved in it some Austrian silent film productions as actor and director.

In this politically turbulent and marked by economic hardship postwar Albert Heine tried to preserve an artistic continuity. It was he, Raoul Aslan dedicated to the Burgtheater and the contemporary plays of Anton Wild Goose ( premiere of Dies irae ), Carl Sternheim and Henrik Ibsen brought to the performance. He was also a pioneer of the Expressionist set design.

In 1921, he stepped in to back to work as an actor and director as director.
