Albert K. Cohen

Albert Kircidel Cohen ( born June 15, 1918 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American criminologist, who is counted among the classics of sociology of crime. He is considered the founder of criminology subculture theory.

Cohen studied at Harvard University and at Indiana University. At Harvard, he was a student of the sociologist Talcott Parsons and Robert K. Merton. In Indiana, he turned to under the influence of Edwin H. Sutherland criminological issues. Since 1947, Cohen Indiana University and University of Connecticut taught sociology and criminology.
