Albert Rust (footballer)

Albert Rust ( born October 10, 1953 in Mulhouse ) is a French former football goalkeeper and football coach.

Playing career

Rust began his career at FC Sochaux, where he remained for 15 years. In 1987 he moved to Montpellier, where he was 1990 French Cup winner. This year he took leave also from Montpellier and headed for Monaco AS Monaco, where he played one more year before he ended his career with his second triumph in the French Cup.

Internationally, he once played for France. He participated as a substitute goalkeeper on the European Football Championship 1984 in their own country part where France became European Champion. Later he joined the Football World Cup 1986 in part in Mexico, where France was third.

He also won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles with the French selection.

Coaching career

After the active career Rust became a coach. His coaching career began in a small unterklassigen French club at Les Crés. In 1993 he went to Beauvais, where he was an assistant coach for one year. In 1994, he followed Henri Michel, the Rust as an assistant coach wanted to Al -Nasr in Saudi Arabia. At Al -Nasr he won as an assistant coach the national championship. In 1995 he returned to France and trained Chamois Niort for four years. He then coached Clermont Foot a year and in turn followed the call of Henri Michel and was assistant coach of the national team of Tunisia. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea as an assistant coach in part. Tunisia was eliminated in the first round. He then coached the Tunisian club Stade Tunisia for half a year. In 2002 he again returned to France and coached until 2006 FC Sète, Stade Brest and U.S. Créteil.
