Albert Schickedanz

Albert Schickedanz ( born October 14, 1846 in Bielsko- Biala, Galicia, † July 11, 1915 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian architect of the Austro- historicism.

Life

Schickedanz was born in a German family. After de studying in Karlsruhe and Vienna, he worked with the Hungarian architect Miklós Ybl. In 1896 he designed and built the Heroes Square in Budapest. In 1900 followed the Kunsthalle, which borders directly on the Heldenplatz. In the same year he began the construction of the Museum of Fine Muzeums for which its design was selected. It was opened in 1906 and is adjacent to the other side of Heroes' Square.
