Albert Simonin

Albert Simonin ( born April 18, 1905 in Paris, † 15 February 1980) was a French writer, screenwriter, author of detective novels and lexicographer of slang.

Life and work

Simonin wrote after the Second World War detective novels ( Self Help ) in an interspersed with Argotwortschatz language that is now obsolete. Most famous Touchez pas au was grisbi! ( with a preface by Pierre Mac Orlan ), Paris, 1953 ( filmed by Jacques Becker, German film and book titles: When night falls in Paris, Vienna / Munich / Basel 1958).

To understand the argot Simonin wrote a dictionary with the allusive to the Petit Larousse illustré title Le Petit Simonin illustré. Dictionnaire d'usage (Paris 1957, 1958 with a preface by Jean Cocteau ), in 2nd edition ud T. Petit Simonin illustré par l' exemple (Paris 1968).
