Albert William Herre

Albert William Christian Theodore Herre ( born September 16, 1868 in Toledo, Ohio; † January 16, 1962 in Santa Cruz, California ) was an American lichens watchers and ichthyologist, who dealt in particular with the fishes of the Indo - Pacific region.

In 1903 he graduated as a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany at Stanford University followed by a Master's Degree and Ph.D. in the field of ichthyology.

Herre conducted from 1919 to 1928, the Fisheries Department of the Bureau of Science in Manila in the Philippines. During this time, he discovered and described particularly many new species of fish.
