Alberto da Zara

Alberto da Zara (* 1889 in Padua, † 1951 in Foggia ) was an Italian Vice Admiral.

In the fighting in June 1942, he held the upper hand in the fight against the Royal Navy. He was considered one of the ablest and most charismatic admirals of the Regia Marina. Nevertheless, it moved in front of him repeatedly rather technocratic management personnel as Admiral Angelo Iachino.

Alberto Da Zara was appointed on 10 September 1943, two days after the entry into force of the armistice with the Allies to the fleet commander. He remained in that post until September 1946.
