Alberto Delgado

Alberto Delgado (born 11 March 1978 in Havana ) is a Cuban footballer who American Soccer League is under contract with the Puerto Rico Islanders FC in the North since 2005. Since 2008, the striker is awarded to Sevilla FC Bayamón.

Career

Association

Delgado fled along with teammate Rey Ángel Martínez, his cousin, during the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2002 in the United States. Previously, he played 1998-2004 for Ciudad de la Habana, Cuba.

In the U.S., he first played for Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. There, he was alongside his compatriot Rey Ángel Martínez, the second Puerto Rican in MLS history From 2005 to 2008 he played at the Puerto Rico Islanders FC in the USL First Division, the then second level in the American Football League. In 2008, he was loaned to FC Sevilla Bayamón in Puerto Rico Soccer League, in 2008 the newly introduced top professional league in Puerto Rico. Right away, the club secured the first official championship, where Delgado reach seven goals. The association is for the CFU Club Championship which qualified 2009. Before his move abroad Delgado was a regular in the squad for the Cuban national soccer team. He graduated between 1998 and 2002 a total of 22 games for his country selection.
