Alberto Méndez (footballer)
Alberto Méndez Rodríguez ( born October 24, 1974 in Nuremberg, Germany) is a former German - Spanish football player and current coach. He is married and father of two children.
Career
Méndez played in 1996 at the 1st SC Feucht in the football national league Bavaria, when he was seen in a game against the ESV Nuremberg marshalling yard of Arsène Wenger, the coach of the top London clubs Arsenal. A year later he was transferred for a fee of 600,000 D- Mark to the English club. He played a few games for Arsenal, among others, in a game in the UEFA Champions League. 3-1 win against Panathinaikos Athens, he scored the 1-0 in the 66th minute. He was replaced for Tommy Black in the 78th minute. But Mendez could not prevail final due to numerous injuries.
He then tried his luck in Greece AEK Athens, where he played from February to April 1999 and again in Germany for SpVgg Unterhaching ( July 1999-June 2000 ). But the injury problems remained loyal to him and so also failed his second start attempt in Arsenal.
In 2001 he moved to the Spanish second division side Racing de Ferrol. Here he remained for two years and took place in 2003 with a new club Terrassa FC. In 2004 he returned to Feucht, 2005, he moved to SpVgg Bayreuth. In the 2006/07 season he played for the South division side SV Darmstadt 98
Prior to the 2007/08 season he moved to third division SV Sandhausen, where he reached the qualification for the third league. In December 2008 he left Sandhausen to join the division SpVgg Weiden Bavaria to join, with whom he was still in the same season reached the championship and thus the associated rise in the Regionalliga Süd.
In November 2010, Méndez end of his career was, again due to a severe injury known.
For the 2011/12 season, he took over as coach at Upper Palatinate district Oberliga FC Amberg, whom he led to the new Bayern League North in 2012, where he was released in April 2013. Since October 2013 he unraveled the soccer shoes for the Middle Franconian Kreisklassisten TV Leinburg.
