Albrecht Dietz

Albrecht Dietz ( born March 11, 1926 in Dresden, † 21 March, 2012 Bergen- Enkheim ) was an entrepreneur and scientist, he has published on management topics such as leasing, corporate governance, institutional and evolutionary economics.

Life

Albrecht Dietz was born the son of businessman and inventor Albert Dietz and the teacher Lydia Dietz. In 1944, he graduated from high school at the Business College of Dresden and studied economics and law, first at the TH Dresden after the bombing of Dresden in 1945 at the University of Jena, where he graduated in 1947 as Diplom-Kaufmann. In 1948 he became a research assistant to Erich Gutenberg at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. There he received his doctorate in 1949 with a thesis on " The Theory of overhead costs".

1949 Dietz began as auditors of the Deutsche Revisions-und Treuhand AG in Frankfurt am Main. From 1953, he held various activities in the office equipment industry as Head of Finance & Accounting at German Olivetti Ltd, Sales Manager at anchor Werke AG, Managing Director of Deutsche Underwood GmbH (see also Underwood ( typewriter ) ). In 1962, the founding and managing partner of machinery rent GmbH, 1962, the first equipment leasing company was together with Deutsche Leasing GmbH. This was Dietz founder and pioneer of a successful industry. 1971 merged the leasing pioneer German Leasing GmbH, machinery hire and rental service GmbH GmbH German Leasing AG, whose CEO Albrecht Dietz then from 1971 until 1991. He also served as president of the Federal Association of German Leasing companies and was involved in the early 1970s instrumental in the drafting of the lease decrees. These are still the legal basis for leases. Some years he was also a member of the Board of the Association of European leasing companies, Leaseurope. Albrecht Dietz was co-editor of the "Journal for the entire Banking - ZfgK " ( official journal of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange ).

Since 1982, he held teaching and research activities on topics of leasing business, corporate governance and institutional economics. In 1988 he was an active participant in the international guest research seminars at the Max Planck Institute for Research into Economic Systems (now "Max - Planck - Institute of Economics " ) in Jena. Since 1990 he was a visiting professor in the Department of Economics at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.

Albrecht Dietz was married to Elizabeth King and had three children: Micaela Grohé, Matthias Dietz and Simone Dietz.

  • Honorary Membership of the Frankfurt Economics Society eV ( fwwg ), the alumni organization of the Department of Economics at the Goethe University, Frankfurt ( 2011)
