Alcobertas is a Freguesia in a circle Rio Maior. In the 32.03 km ² large municipality located 1923 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).

The village is located about nine kilometers north of the county town on the eastern flank of the Serra dos Candeeiros. To Freguesia belong the localities Alqueidão, Barbines, Barreira da Mata, Casal da Velha, Teira, Portela de Teira, Vale Teira, Fonte Longa, Chãos, Sourões, Casais Monizes, Ribeira das Neves and Ribeira de Cima.

Of particular importance is the Megalithkapelle Santa Maria Madalena, one of the ten largest chapels of its kind on the Iberian Peninsula.
