Alejandro Casañas

Alejandro Francisco Casañas Ramírez ( born January 29, 1954 in Havana ) is a former Cuban hurdler.

He won at the Olympics two silver medals in the 110 meter hurdles. At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 he crossed the finish line in 13.33 s behind Guy Drut ( 13.30 s ) and before Willie Davenport ( 13.38 s ). With the Cuban 4 x 100 - meter relay Casañas occupied in Montreal fifth. His second Olympic medal he won at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. In 13.40 s he placed behind Thomas Munkelt ( 13.39 s ) and before Alexander Puchkov ( 13.44 s ).

Other successes achieved Casañas at Pan American Games (winner in 1975, Second 1979 and 1983 ) and in Central American and Caribbean Championships (winner in 1977, 1981, 1983, 1985) and in Central American and Caribbean Games (winner in 1974, 1978, 1982). He also presented on 21 August 1977 in Sofia with a time of 13.21 s set a world record in the 110- meter hurdles on.

Alejandro Casañas is 1,88 m tall and had a competition weight of 79 kg.
