Alejandro Jodorowsky

Alejandro Jodorowsky [ a.le.xan.ð̪ɾo xo.ð̪o.ɾov.ski ] ( born February 17, 1929 in Tocopilla, Chile ) is a Chilean film director, actor and author of a series of surreal films.

Life

Jodorowsky is the child of a Jewish family that comes from the Ukraine. He grew up in Chile. In 1953 he went to Paris to study mime with Étienne Decroux. He then joined the group of Decroux pupil Marcel Marceau. Together with Olivier Boiscommun he put him in the comic Pietrolino posthumously a memorial.

His first feature film Fando y Lis to Fernando Arrabal was born in 1967 In it he described in surreal montages the journey of a young couple in the Promised Land Tar His rank as a cult director Jodorowsky acquired with El Topo (1970) and Montana Sacra -. The Holy Mountain (1973).

1975 Jodorowsky began working on the film adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel Dune. 2013 succeeded Jodorowsky on the film festival of Cannes with his new film La Danza de la Realidad ' an impressive comeback. The film was shown on 18 May 2013 for the scope of the Directors' Fortnight and highly praised by the international press. In the film, Jodorowsky son Brontis plays the role of Father Jaime Jodorowsky. His two sons Cristóbal and Adán (Music ) were also involved in the production, and wife Pascale Montandon was the costume designer.

At the Munich Film Festival in June 2013 is the first major international Jodorowsky retrospective instead of including the Germany premiere of La Danza de la Realidad.

Jodorowsky is currently living in Paris and working as a comic book writer. He has, for example, the story is written to the known 13 -volume John Difool (the first six volumes and 13 drawn by Moebius ). In recent years, Jodorowsky has written several books in the artistic- therapeutic range and for personal development.
