Aleksander Chłopek

Aleksander Chłopek (born 13 December 1946 in Chrzanów ) is a Polish politician, a local politician and since 2005 member of the Sejm in the V. and VI. Legislature.

He finished his studies in Polish Studies at the Faculty of Polish Philology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He worked until his retirement as a teacher.

In the 60 years he worked in the academic pastoral care at the Anna church in Krakow and was developed by the Communist sluzba Bezpieczeństwa ( Security Service) monitored. From 1978 to 1981 he was one of the Polska Zjednoczona partia Robotnicza ( Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR ) to, in 1980, he joined the opposition Solidarity trade union. From 1992 to 1995 he was in the parties Unia Demokratyczna (Democratic Union - UD ) and Unia Wolności ( Freedom Union - UW) active. Since 2001 he has been with the Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ( Law and Justice - PiS) connected.

In the years 1990 to 1998 and 2002 to 2005 he was a town councilor in Gliwice. In the 2005 parliamentary elections, he was elected on the list of PiS for the electoral district of Gliwice with 5366 votes in the Sejm. In the local elections in 2006 he applied unsuccessfully for the post of Mayor of Gliwice, he reached only 26.75% and came thus to the second place. In the 2007 parliamentary elections, he was elected for the second time in the Sejm, this time with 5762 votes. He was a member of the Sejm commissions for the connection with the Polonia abroad as well as for education, science and youth. Since November 7, 2011 are no longer in the Sejm.
