Aleksandr Anpilogov

Alexander Semenovich Anpilogow (Georgian ალექსანდრე ანპილოგოვი, Russian Александр Семёнович Анпилогов; * January 18, 1954 in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR, Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet- Georgian handball player.

The Soviet national team backcourt players won the gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and was at the 1982 World Cup champion. At the Olympic Games in 1980 and the 1978 World Cup he won the silver medal. The 230 - times capped player was elected to Georgia's handball team of the century.

After his athletic career Anpilogow worked at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and anti- corruption. He later became Vice President of Georgian Handball Federation. Since the early 1990s, he lives in Germany. His son also plays handball.
