Aleksandr Antonov (actor)

Alexander Pavlovich Antonov, Russian Александр Павлович Антонов, ( 1 Februarjul / February 13 1898greg in Moscow, .. † November 26, 1962 ) was a Soviet actor.

Life

Antonov came in 1920 at the Proletkulttheater in Moscow, where he played until 1924 as a member of the ensemble. Here he was discovered by Sergei Eisenstein and cast him first in his 1923 short film Дневник Глумова and 1925 in the feature film strike. Antonov embodied in a worker strike. His most famous role was that of Grigori Wakulintschuk in Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin. Antonov occurred in the sequence in a number of Soviet silent films. He also managed to establish itself as an actor in talkies. In 1950 Antonov was named Honored Artist of the RSFSR.
