Aleš Veselý

Aleš Vesely ( born February 3, 1935 in Čáslav ) is a Czech painter and sculptor.

Life and work

Vesely studied graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague. From the mid- 1960s, he attracted attention with his often made ​​of steel and wood object sculptures and his drawings. For his monumental works he often uses industrial scrap, scrap wood and uses everyday objects such as scaffolding, wheels, cages and racks, which he puts together new unconventional object sculptures.

Works by the artist can be seen worldwide in public places, such as the Stadtpark Bochum and included in museum collections, such as the Graphic Arts Collection of the Museum Folkwang, Essen, and the collection of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. He is since 1990 professor of monumental sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague. He lives and works in Prague.
