Alessandro Peretti di Montalto

Alessandro Peretti Damasceni called Cardinal Montalto (* 1571 in Montalto delle Marche, † June 2, 1623 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal.

Peretti was the son of Fabio Damasceni and his wife Maria Mignucci Peretti; mother he was the great-nephew of Pope Sixtus V.

Felice Peretti was elected on April 24, 1585 Pope Sixtus V and when he appointed with effect from 13 May of the same year, his fourteen- year-old great-nephew Alessandro Cardinal.

After the Cardinals Raffaele Riario and Giovanni Francesco Alessandro Peretti Gambara was the third major builder of the Villa Lante in Bagnaia.

The sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini created a remarkable bust of Cardinal Montalto.

At the age of about 52 years, Alessandro Peretti died on June 2, 1623 in Rome. His final resting place he found in the chapel of Santo Presepio.

Alessandro Peretti was the uncle of Cardinal Francesco Peretti di Montalto.
