Alex Rădulescu

Alexander Rădulescu ( born December 7, 1974 in Bucharest, Romania ) is a former German tennis player and current coach.

Rădulescu began the age of seven with the sport of tennis. He came at the age of 14 years to Germany and in 1993 the German nationality. He played for the Rochus Club Dusseldorf and trained with Klaus Hofsäss. In the 1990s, he was one of Germany's best tennis players and was known for his strong serve, which was favored by its body length of 1.88 m. As a junior player, he reached the 1993 final of the junior French Open in doubles together with Yevgeny Kafelnikov and was in the same year also secure the league titles in doubles. In 1996 he had his biggest international success, as he could penetrate surprisingly the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in his first Grand Slam tournament participation. He defeated Arnaud Boetsch, Stefano Pescosolido and David Wheaton each in five sets before it failed because of the eventual finalists MaliVai Washington. Its highest ranking in the tennis world ranking was No. 51 in 1997. This year it is also the only finals succeeded in Chennai at an ATP tournament, where he lost to Sweden Mikael Tillström. In the same year he reached the U.S. Open third round where he lost to Pete Sampras. He had his best result is also double in 1997, when he failed along with Nicolas Kiefer in Singapore only in the semi-finals. He is currently the coach of the Thai tennis player Danai Udomchoke.
